Se já tiveste o telefone roubado deverás perceber melhor que ninguém a impotência que sentes ao ver que alguém tem acesso a tudo o que é teu. Mas aqui um cineasta resolveu dar aos ladrões uma dose do seu próprio remédio e espiar tudo o que estes fazem.
Perder um telefone deve ser algo terrível (felizmente uma sensação que nunca experimentei). Não só a perda monetária, mas acima de tudo o facto de se saber que o ladrão tem acesso a todo o conteúdo do telefone e como tal a e-mails, fotos, contas de redes sociais, etc. Enfim, um mar tão grande de coisas que nem é bom pensar-se nisso.
Neste caso, um cineasta de nome Anthony van der Meer, viu o seu smartphone ser furtado e ficou frustrado quando se apercebeu claramente do que perdeu junto com o aparelho. Foi aí que ele decidiu arranjar um novo smartphone e deixar igualmente o mesmo ser roubado. Mas a diferença é que este telefone continha um spyware instalado que lhe permitia saber tudo o que o ladrão do smartphone estava a fazer. E isso incluía absolutamente… tudo!
O resultado foi este filme, Find My Phone, e que mostra tudo o que foi feito com o seu telefone e as atividades realizadas com ele, de forma a se tentar perceber que tipo de pessoas cometem este ato, o que os leva a isso, e se há alguma forma de se perceber o que os motiva a isso (que, claro, não há).
One filmmaker, Anthony van der Meer, had his smartphone taken from him, and he realized exactly what he had lost in the act. After mulling it over, he let another smartphone of his be stolen, but this time to phone came with special spyware installed so that van der Meer could keep tabs on the user and whatever they were doing with the phone. That means everything, including calls to a sex line and other dirty, secretive things.
The result was the short film Find My Phone, which van der Meer created as he tracked the man who stole his phone. This included actions on the phone, actual calls, and various other activity in a bid to try and understand the type of person who would do such a thing, what drives them, and possibly empathize with them…not that that’s an easy thing to do or anything.
It’s difficult to want to care what a thief is thinking, and I certainly didn’t by the end of the film, as I hoped the creator would just go and snag his phone back because it made me angry, but your mileage may vary. It’s an interesting film nevertheless, and exciting to see someone going to the trouble of such an experiment.
Check out the short film for yourself, but be forewarned: It may very well spur you to take your smartphone security even more seriously than you already do. It’s serious stuff, folks.
